Top 10 places to visit in the capital
Our top tips just a stone's throw from Villa Modigliani
Behind the quiet storefronts, Montparnasse is buzzing. The narrow streets open onto theaters, rooftop bars, murals, and gardens...
From Villa Modigliani, Paris beckons: close by, lively, and often surprising. Every step can lead to a great find. Here is our selection.
When cuisine is an institution
Brasseries with old-world charm, Michelin-starred restaurants, and gourmet counters: the capital offers gastronomy in all its forms. Indulge in a rib steak in a Belle Époque setting, fall for a macaron presented like a jewel in a display case, or take a seat at a zinc counter for a hot croque-monsieur... In Paris, tradition is cooked up every day with boldness and refinement.
La Coupole
Since 1927, La Coupole has reigned over Montparnasse with the quiet presence of places that stand the test of time. Under its listed Art Deco dome, guests enjoy the atmosphere as much as the food. From morning onwards, flavors are served continuously - a generous breakfast, a sunny lunch on the terrace, a refined dinner, or an aperitif at the American bar.
Les Bouillons
You don't have to go far to find the spirit of large, popular dining tables. At Le Petit Bouillon Vavin and Le Bouillon Chartier, the tablecloths are paper, the prices are reasonable, and the plates are filled with the best of French cuisine without any fuss. Leeks with vinaigrette, beef bourguignon, chocolate mousse: simple, tasty dishes served amid the cheerful hubbub of crowded dining rooms. A warm, accessible Paris that is as delicious as ever.
Le Dôme
A legendary meeting place for artists and writers in Montparnasse, Le Dôme has stood the test of time without losing any of its aura. Since the arrival of chef Yoshihiko Miura, the restaurant has embraced a subtle dialogue between French tradition and Japanese precision. Sashimi, fine fish, seasonal produce: each dish is crafted with precision, simplicity, and accuracy.
The new decor gives the whole place a contemporary poetry, combining fine materials, lighting effects, and craftsmanship. An exceptional restaurant in Paris, to be savored as much as contemplated.
The Food Society Paris-Gaîté
Counters, aromas, laughter drifting between tables... In this large industrial-style hall, around fifteen food stalls offer street food from around the world, sweet treats, and vegetarian creations.
Share them at a large table or nibble on them with friends, glass in hand. Open seven days a week, until late.
Where to have a drink?
When Paris rises to new heights, drinks rise too. In a carefully crafted exotic setting or in the shade of a hanging garden, each rooftop offers its own unique setting for pleasure.
43 Cocktail Bar
Look up, climb a few floors, and let the city light up beneath your feet. At 43 Cocktail Bar, the terrace opens onto the rooftops of the Left Bank. A breathtaking view to enjoy with a drink in hand as night falls.
La Perruche
Further on, La Perruche unfurls its hanging garden at the top of Printemps Haussmann. Lush vegetation and a festive spirit: between Parisian art de vivre and Mediterranean charm, this is a place where you'll want to linger.
Party in the capital
When night falls, Paris is far from sleepy. In the streets of the 14th arrondissement or further afield towards the grand boulevards, every venue whispers a promise: a concert, a comedy club, or simply a terrace where laughter lingers late into the night...
Between Montparnasse and the heights of the city, the party takes on a thousand faces. Where will yours begin?
Where to have a good time?
A walk, an exhibition, the theater, a garden, or a trip along the Seine... From Villa Modigliani, Paris can be explored on foot, by bike, or by metro, depending on your mood. Everything is close by, everything is possible. You just have to choose where to start.
Laugh or shiver at the theater
Montparnasse is also a lively, diverse scene that is always on the move. In the evening, the curtain rises on laughter or thrills, ranging from light comedy to socially conscious theater.
- Théâtre Edgar
- Gaîté Montparnasse
- Bobino
The theaters are located just a stone's throw from Villa Modigliani. Just choose your evening and let yourself be carried away.
Immerse yourself in the literary nightlife of Saint-Germain
From Montparnasse, it takes just two stops to reach the terraces of Le Flore and Les Deux Magots, where the ghosts of Sartre, Beauvoir, Boris Vian, and others still linger. The neighborhood comes alive with cafés, antique bookshops, discreet galleries, and jazz clubs.
Madame Arthur: let yourself be surprised by a cabaret
Sequined costumes, powerful voices, offbeat humor, and subtle tenderness... At the foot of Montmartre hill, Madame Arthur reinvents cabaret with panache. On stage, a troupe of drag queens mix songs from yesterday and today in a free and resolutely Parisian atmosphere. A cult venue where nighttime becomes a spectacle.
The Cartier Foundation
Founded in 1984, the Fondation Cartier has always been a haven for contemporary artists. In 2025, the Foundation will move to Place du Palais-Royal, in the former Louvre des Antiquaires. Once again, Jean Nouvel is reinventing the space. Behind the Haussmann-style façade lies 8,500 m² of bold design: bay windows, vertical lines, mobile platforms... A canvas for expression that matches the artistic ambitions.
Stroll in the shadow of artists
On the walls of the 13th arrondissement, the monumental murals of Street Art 13 transform the city into an open-air gallery. On several facades, artists from around the world—Shepard Fairey, C215, Inti, D*Face (who created Turncoat, a 25-meter-high work)—offer a colorful and socially conscious vision of today's Paris.
Further north, in Butte-aux-Cailles, art infiltrates the cobbled streets: collages, stencils, graffiti... every street corner holds a surprise.
