Nature Outings

What nature outings are there in Paris?

Going green, even in Paris

In the soft light of morning or the long shadows of dusk, nature always finds its place, even in the city. Large parks or hidden gardens, peaceful riverbanks or tree-lined avenues... the capital offers a thousand ways to slow down. Between sightseeing and a good restaurant, treat yourself to a green break in the heart of Parisian life.

Buttes Chaumont Paris

Buttes Chaumont, a park for weekend runners

As vast as the Tuileries, the Buttes Chaumont park is nonetheless more popular than the Tuileries. The park's undulating scenery offers runners on vacation or beginners a beautiful 3 km loop with a slight gradient. The surface is not sandy, and runners will be able to do some very good hill work. Very green and well planted with trees, it offers a certain isolation.

Its wide paths make it easy to cross paths without getting in each other's way.

Commissioned by Napoleon III to Baron Haussmann, it abounds in a wide variety of plants that will appeal to botanical enthusiasts.

Park in Paris - Tuileries Gardens

Paris parks for sustainable vacations

Paris is committed to a sustainable future, with eco-responsible initiatives in its parks. For example, the Parc de la Villette stands out for its ecological gardens, preserved biodiversity zones and installed beehives. Another example: the Parc André-Citroën features educational gardens that raise public awareness of urban agriculture and permaculture. As for activities, you can take part in beekeeping workshops at the Jardin des Tuileries or outdoor yoga sessions at the Buttes-Chaumont. Wellness and ecology: the planet thanks you!

The Bois de Vincennes, the countryside on the outskirts of Paris

Tree-lined paths, sunlit glades, lakes dotted with boats... The Bois de Vincennes offers a setting that feels worlds away from the capital. Walk through the undergrowth, sit by the water's edge, listen to the wind rustling through the leaves... Under the trees, life moves to the rhythm of the seasons, and nature gently reclaims its place.

The Bois de Boulogne

The Bois de Boulogne is the large green lung of western Paris, perfect for escaping the noise of the city. Between boat rides, impromptu picnics, and motivated joggers, the atmosphere is always lively. You can encounter swans as well as cyclists, families as well as dreamers in search of fresh air.

It's a bit like the countryside... but just a stone's throw from the Eiffel Tower!

Edmond de Rothschild Park and its Japanese garden

In Boulogne-Billancourt, we recommend this 15-hectare park, which is open to the public free of charge. It features a Japanese garden designed by Edmond de Rothschild after meeting horticulturist Mr. Hatta at the 1900 World's Fair. Completed in 1925, it covered one hectare and featured a pagoda and a kiosk. Although the buildings have disappeared, the spirit of the place remains: a winding river, pond, waterfall, pine trees, and maple trees still line the path. Two red bridges cross the water; in Japanese tradition, this color marks the passage between the world of men and that of the gods...

The Jardin des Plantes, for young and old alike

Near the Austerlitz train station, the Jardin des Plantes brings together several thousand species of plants and flowers across 23 hectares. Visitors can stroll along its paths, admire the Japanese cherry trees in spring, explore the Botanical School garden, the large greenhouses, and the Grande Galerie de l'Évolution.

La Cité des Sciences - Paris - Vacances Bleues

Les Jardins de La Villette: the largest park in Paris

La Villette covers 55 hectares of meadows, themed gardens, and recreational areas. Its 12 gardens offer a variety of settings, alternating between landscaped areas, relaxation areas, and spaces dedicated to gardening. There are contemporary artworks, a farm with animals, and discreet wildlife. The vast lawns are perfect for picnics or games, while the tree-lined paths offer the chance to observe a wide variety of tree species. It's a place where you can easily spend the whole day, enjoying contemplation, activities, and moments of rest.

Rare animals and a ride on the merry-go-round

Children particularly enjoy the Ménagerie, one of the oldest zoos in the world, home to red pandas, snow leopards, and orangutans. Have your little ones been good? Treat them to a ride on the Dodo Carousel, a wooden carousel that is unique in the world: the mounts are extinct or endangered animals—triceratops, three-horned turtles, Tasmanian wolves... Fun and educational.
